Millennium Volunteers
Sefton Millennium Volunteers is part of a national scheme for anyone aged 16-25. Sefton MV aims to encourage, support and recognise young people who give their time for the benefit of others. Through MV you can make a difference for both yourself and your community. The slogan of MV is "Build on what you're into" - it's all about using your skills, hobbies and interests to help others. At the same time you can learn new skills, widen your horizons, gain valuable experience, meet people and build up your CV.
Anyone aged 16-25 can become an MV - all that matters is that you're prepared to volunteer some of your spare time. Whether this is four hours a week or ten hours a day, it's up to you - Sefton MV's job is to support you in reaching the goal of 200 hours in up to a year. You will be presented with an 'Award of Excellence' certificate when you achieve 200 hours of volunteering. You will also receive certificates when you reach the milestones of 50 hours and 100 hours of voluntary activity. Between April 2005 and March 2006 Sefton Millennium Volunteers supported almost 500 young people (aged 16-25) taking part in voluntary activity in and around Sefton. What are the benefits of becoming a Millennium Volunteer?
- Having fun
